Study on the micro through holes machining using the electrochemical machining (ECM) method with a graphite electrode

Electrochemical machining is widely used in biomedical, aerospace, automotive, and other fields. The development of electrochemical (ECM) restricted by many factors such as the difficulty preparing micro-electrode, large machined gap serious stray corrosion. In this paper, we present a method to fabricate micro-holes combining micro-graphite electrode with hollow structure. Firstly, sealed graphite was proposed guarantee that sediment can be fully removed flowing electrolyte. Then, effect parameters pulse frequency, voltage, feeding speed, electrolyte concentration on quality studied. By optimizing parameters, minimum value micro-hole taper 0.07 could obtained. To improve shape precision workpiece, paper designed structure inside electrode. With increasing accuracy increased. results suggested frequency 100 kHz, voltage 18 V, speed 1 µm/s, 5% were more suitable for ECM.
